    Project One Wave

Coastal Debris Campaign · Captain Paul Watson Foundation UK

The shoreline. A united movement tackling ocean plastic through collective action.

Project One Wave brings together conservationists, artists, businesses and volunteers across the UK, merging the Captain Paul Watson Foundation’s debris campaigns into one wave: clean-ups, summits, direct action and creative outreach. Francesca Busca is one of its artists; her Maremnants series, made from ghost gear and marine debris, grew inside it. At Kindfire it held Ocean Dynamics & Interconnected Seas.

  3. Nantes · community

    Les Hydronautes

BIUTOPIC · Nantes, on the Erdre

The river. A laboratory that floats, shared with whoever needs it.

North of Nantes, on fifteen kilometres of Natura 2000 riverbank — herons, kingfishers, otters — a 1987 Renaud 8000 is being restored into a floating laboratory for researchers, associations and citizens to share: sampling the water, watching for pollution, counting what lives there. Its small sister, HYDRO-01, has already been to sea in the Faroe Islands. Les Hydronautes showed at Kindfire 2026.

  4. Porto · community

    Insights of an Eco Artist

    Joana Alarcão · Porto, Portugal

Environmental artist Joana Alarcão works from Porto, specialising in biomaterials and sustainable art practices. She is the founder of Insights of An Eco Artist (IOAEA) and part of the collective. At Kindfire 2026 she showed as one of the artists and led Tidal Fibers, a workshop on seaweed-based bioyarn.

The science. Oceanography that leaves the journal and reaches a room full of people.

A key partnership of the collective. Oceanographer Francesco Falcieri, researcher and operations manager at the institute, is part of the collective.

After Kindfire

The next steps.

The first Kindfire is done and counted. Now the web widens: communities on other shores, the next Kindfire, and whatever you bring to it.
